Santisima Trinidad, described as the biggest ship in the world, she was actually smaller than the French 118 gun ships though bigger than the other Spanish first rates and definitely bigger than any British ship until the Hibernia of 1801. Hull is cast in resin and has etched brass ratlines, assembly instructions and sail template. Etched brass sails are available as an optional extra, see MTC05.
The Santisima Trinidad was designed and built by Mathew Mullens, an Irish shipwright working in the dockyard at Havana. She was launched in 1769 as a 112 gun first rate ship but her armament was increased over the years to 120 guns. In 1795 this was increased to 130 guns. Often called the biggest ship in the world, she was badly damaged at St Vincent and taken at Trafalgar but scuttled and sank in the storm that followed.
