HMS Glatton, 56 guns, saw action under Trollope and Bligh, taken out of commission in 1809 she was broken up in 1830. Kit is cast in white metal, etched brass ratlines, assembly instructions and sail template. Brass etched sails are available as an optional extra, see MTC11.
Her first commission was under captain Trollope, a carronade enthusiast who had the ship armed with 28 x 68 pdr and 28 x 42 pdr carronades. It was with this armament she fell in with a French squadron on her way to join Admiral Duncan’s North sea fleet. Trollope attacked and after a 13 hour engagement drove the French into Flushing. Glatton was at the first battle of Copenhagen under William Bligh and set her Danish opponent on fire by firing carcass from her upper deck carronades.
